Formed predominantly by PARADISE LOST string man Gregor Mackintosh but also featuring members that have turned up in such bands as MY DYING BRIDE, AT THE GATES, HAUNTED and CRADLE OF FILTH.
Now, my interest in Paradise Lost went about as far as their 2nd album "Gothic", after that what I listened to was good stuff but I wasn't fully on it like I was before. I left them alone for a while and by the time I came back to them they had all cut their hair and sounded like Depeche Mode.
A while later and they decided to get some locks back and kick out some good old growly stuff but but that time it was a bit too late for me to pick them back up again. However, Gregor always had a spot in my heart since he was just doing something (back then) that I considered just totally original.
So what's up with VALLENFYRE then? Well, Gregor takes over both vox and geetar and has created an album that sounds like it contain riffs (and sometimes a production) lifted from the first two PL albums and chucked in a barrel's worth of bollocks and spent too much time in the dark listening to SKITSYSTEM and WOLFPACK.
The result - hellz yeahz! A masterpiece of crushing death-metal-D-beat with some pretty somber parts.
The album is called "A Fragile King" and you could do a lot worse to pick it up!
